Lovely painting by french post-impressionist artist of the Oise valley Fernand Pinal (1881-1958).

The painting shows a beautiful summer day on the Marne. Probably it was a joint trip with his wife and child of the artist, which probably are represented here. Typically, the dry paint with short strokes on rough narrow, barely primed canvas. This avoids a striking impression of the bright colours.

Fernand Pinal is one of the most important painter of the Valley of the Marne. His works are assigned to the pointillism. He was a pupil of the Impressionist Henri Martin.

Pinal became a member of the Salon des Artistes Français and the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts. He was a close friend to Montézin and Le Sidaner.
